Conservation repair works have started on the Grade II* listed St. Michael and All Angels Church in Herefordshire. The grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund will address the major repairs needed to the tower, the roofs, rainwater goods, stonework, the porch, several windows, internal walls and ceilings, and electrics. The project started with excavations for a French drain where the contractors, watched over by an Archaeologist, discovered a previous building or an earlier phase to the 12th Century Church. In

RRA is working with our developer client on this new-build, five-unit, residential development in South-East London. The design considers the massing and form of the adjacent buildings and, in a contemporary manner, produces a building that sits very well in its context. The project is currently being evaluated for viability and we hope to be discussing it with the local authority in the next few weeks.

RRA is very proud to sponsor the ‘City’ category in a new charitable art competition designed around celebrating Herefordshire. The competition, organised by Harrison Clark Rickerbys, will run from Monday 3rd September until Friday 19th October, with judging in November. There will be two age groups, Junior (8-14years) and Adult (15+) in each of the five categories; City, Leisure, Portrait, Landscape and Wildcard. The Chancellor of the Diocese of Gloucester has passed judgement giving the go-ahead for RRA’s innovative new plans for the reordering of St. Philips and St. James Church, Leckhampton. The controversial plans made national news with it’s contemporary vision for the church with the removal of some of the Victorian pews. Not everyone is going back to school though, RRA’s Marketer, Rachel Palmer, has completed her Msc studies. According to Rachel, “It was great to be back at University after 20 or so years away. I would definitely recommend being a mature student.” Rachel thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and appreciated the opportunity saying “I realise I am very lucky to work for a supportive company, who were prepared to allow me the time to complete my studies. Sadly, the time has come for RRA’s year out graduate, Matt Gaunt, to ‘go back to school,’ returning to Cardiff University to complete his MArch studies. Matt has been a great asset to the company over the past 12 months. On the plus side this was another perfect excuse for the RRA team to enjoy a social evening to send Matt on his way. RRA wishes Matt well with his future, which we hope will see him return to RRA
