Two Cathedrals in Two Evenings

RRA Architects > Two Cathedrals in Two Evenings

In June we were very lucky to be invited to enjoy two, very different, events over two evenings in two magnificent venues – the Stroud College Fashion Show in Gloucester Cathedral and the Nave Dinner in Hereford Cathedral.

New talent on show at the Stroud College end of year fashion show at Gloucester Cathedral
Providing a stunning backdrop to display the exciting new designs from the students of Stroud and South Gloucester College, Gloucester Cathedral offers a fantastic venue for community events.

Both were fabulous evenings where the prestige and grandeur of the space added enormously to the ambience of the event. It is wonderful to see these glorious buildings used for the community in such diverse ways.

RRA has been at the forefront of promoting the use of such buildings for the wider community and since receiving our RIBA award for exactly this regenerative type of work in All Saints Church in Hereford, we have carried out similar projects in many churches throughout the UK. One of our current projects involves putting a bakery into a church space which has just been rescued from dereliction.

We would like to thank the students of SDS College for inviting us to attend their fabulous fashion show. As a creative architects practice we are always very interested to see the other creative disciplines. The talent and originality demonstrated was very impressive as shown in the photos below.

The following evening, as guests of RRA consultant, Robert Kilgour, the Cathedral Architect for Hereford, Litchfield and Derby, we were honoured to attend the esteemed Nave Dinner in Hereford Cathedral. The circus themed evening was enormously entertaining with acrobats, stilt walkers, magicians, curiosities and, of course, the ringmaster. The food, by local company AtoZest, was exceptional and we would like to thank our hosts for their generous invitation and for introducing us to their lovely guests.

The gallery below shows images from both evenings.
