RRA wins award for Pittville Gates restoration project

Historic England (formerly English Heritage) has awarded a commendation in the Angel Awards to the Friends of Pittville for the project to restore Pittville Gates, carried out by RRA and the contractor AMPM. The gates have been successfully rescued due to the tremendous time, effort and determination of the Friends. Historic England annually organise an Award scheme known as the Angel Awards for successfully completed restoration projects of historic buildings or historic sites. Shining Light in Cheltenham

Pittville, a beautiful area of Cheltenham featuring stunning examples of Georgian architecture, has been transformed thanks to RRA’s input and the sterling efforts of The Friends of Pittville. In 2011 RRA were appointed to assist the community and Cheltenham Borough Council to restore the ironwork and stonework plinths of the old gateway, which marks the entrance to Pittville. The existing gates had fallen into disrepair after years of neglect and air pollution had eroded the stones and corroded the ironwork –
